New website
I have not written here for a while. A lot has been going on. I am currently recovering from some surgery so I have had some time to do something that I have wanted to do for a long time. It has been my intention to start a website for a couple of years. I registered the domain 2 years ago so my site was under construction since that time. I received a call from the web hosting company that registered my domain to offer their services in hosting my site. I had considered it at one point but the cost of having them design and maintain a website that will not generate money could not really be justified. I wanted to have the satisfaction of doing it myself so that I could say I did myself and also to save money, however, I did not know where to start.
I originally started this blog to help me learn about internet publishing, It has helped me a lot with using templates and learning some basic HTML. So after my phone call from the web host company, I decided that it might be a good project to try to get my website going. I had noticed a web provider that offers free web hosting and I decided to investigate their services. I could design and publish the site through this company free of charge. They offer more advanced services that you can pay for but for now I decided to use the free hosting.
I had to change my DNS (domain name server) from the other company to them. I was not sure how to go about it but I read the FAQs from the original web host company and it was fairly simple. I was little apprehensive when I kept getting the message that I may lose the information from my site. I realized that I do not have a site with them, just a domain, so I went ahead and did what I needed to do.
I then started to build my website fit kix.
I looked at their templates but then I noticed that I could pick a layout and do my own color scheme. Choosing my own layout and color scheme was a more attractive option to me because it would reflect more of myself and the theme of the website. I entered my text and included some pictures and published the first page that day. The next day I created the second page. The web provider also offered free web tools, like guest books, forums, links pages, blogs and other services. I created a small forum, a guest book and a links page for the site.
There are 3 pages now to fit kix.
The website theme is a fitness and lifestyle theme, very similar to this blog. I plan to continue the blog and I have included a link to this blog in the links page. The site will have discussions about how to start and maintain a fitness program. I would also like to include discussions about books and videos that I have found helpful in my own fitness journey.
I have joined a couple of affiliate programs with some companies that have some excellent fitness resources to that help people with their own personal goals and programs.
So I am now on my way to another journey in my own personal quest. The site is definitely not complete. It still needs a lot of work. It will probably change a lot once I learn how to navigate my way through web publishing. There is a talking avatar that I can add that might interesting. I have at least had fun playing with it even if I do not end up putting it on the site. You can find the site at http://fitkix.net.
Wish me luck!

WOW, you've spent a lot of time on this. Well done, you've should of been a full time educator. You and Art are so into physical fitness. These blogs are very informative and well done. I'm just become aware of this venue and I find it's quite amazing at the possibilities. (I really like the auto spell check in these blogger windows).
